Sound Effects & Foley

Capturing action, movement, and emotion through foley is an incredibly important part of captivating sound design. On this page you will find work that highlights my skills creating original sound effects for media, and working within existing libraries to create immersive sound tracks.

Unity RPG Sound Design

This project features a suite of original sound effects created for an RPG. The game is a prebuilt game from the unity asset store, though all audio assets including music were created by me. Working on projects like this have pushed my ability to create sound effects using the various objects that I have accessible to me, especially when I can't get the real thing. For example the bush break sound heard in this game was created by layering takes of throwing and rustling shreds of paper.

Sound to Picture

Syncing new sound effects to existing video is a great exercise to hone sound design skills. It places emphasis on the quality of the effect, and asks the sound designer to match action and work creatively. The video below is a redesign of a scene from WALL-E, I worked with recorded foley from my own catalog of sounds as well as additional samples from other sound libraries. Much of the work for this project was in editing the sounds and layering different samples together to create more animated and convincing effects.
